Tactics of host manipulation by intracellular effectors from plant pathogenic fungi

چکیده

Fungal pathogens can secrete hundreds of effectors, some which are known to promote host susceptibility. This biological complexity, together with the lack genetic tools in fungi, presents a substantial challenge develop broad picture mechanisms these use for manipulation. Nevertheless, recent advances understanding individual effector functions beginning flesh out our view fungal pathogenesis. review discusses latest findings that illustrate how effectors from diverse species similar strategies modulate plant physiology their advantage. We also summarize breakthroughs identification challenging systems, like obligate biotrophs, and emerging concepts such as ‘iceberg model’ explain activation immunity be turned off by suppressive activity.

Plant pathogenic bacterial type III effectors subdue host responses.

Like animals, plants sense bacterial pathogens through surface-localized pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) and intracellular nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat proteins (NB-LRR) and trigger defense responses. Many plant-pathogenic bacteria secrete a large repertoire of effector proteins into host cells to modulate host responses, enabling successful infection and multiplication in plants...

Proteomics of Plant Pathogenic Fungi

Plant pathogenic fungi cause important yield losses in crops. In order to develop efficient and environmental friendly crop protection strategies, molecular studies of the fungal biological cycle, virulence factors, and interaction with its host are necessary. For that reason, several approaches have been performed using both classical genetic, cell biology, and biochemistry and the modern, hol...

Autophagy in plant pathogenic fungi.

Autophagy is a conserved cellular process that degrades cytoplasmic constituents in vacuoles. Plant pathogenic fungi develop special infection structures and/or secrete a range of enzymes to invade their plant hosts. It has been demonstrated that monitoring autophagy processes can be extremely useful in visualizing the sequence of events leading to pathogenicity of plant pathogenic fungi. In th...

Arsenal of plant cell wall degrading enzymes reflects host preference among plant pathogenic fungi

BACKGROUND The discovery and development of novel plant cell wall degrading enzymes is a key step towards more efficient depolymerization of polysaccharides to fermentable sugars for the production of liquid transportation biofuels and other bioproducts. The industrial fungus Trichoderma reesei is known to be highly cellulolytic and is a major industrial microbial source for commercial cellulas...
